Gary “The Gut” Goombah

Hello friends, I’ve invented a new character for you this football season. His name is Gary “The Gut” Goombah and he’s my prognosticator general. Each week (supposedly) Gary “The Gut” will make his football selections for your gambling needs.

Gary has assured me that he will check in with some incredible gambling advice, at least when he’s not hung over, or hung out to dry by hustlers in his lavish parlor.

Remember kids, all advice is to be taken to the bank. In fact, get out ALL your savings and invest heavily in Gary “The Gut’s” picks.

Week 2 NCAA

Georgia (+4) over Notre Dame

• I think Georgia will probably win this one straight up, much less cover this 4 point spread. Their D and their running game will travel well up to South Bend. I love ND but young QB Brandon Wimbush may struggle against these ferocious defenders from the Deep South. “The Gut” says take the points!

Nebraska (+13) over Oregon

• I’m not sure Nebraska will win this game straight up but they’re getting 13 points against a team they beat straight up last year. Plus, the Huskers rebuild is being overexaggerated while the Ducks are the ones with the first year coach. I know the game is at Autzen, but 13 points? “The Gut” says…..PLEASE! Attention, Las Vegas, I’m STEALING your money.

Duke (+3) over Northwestern

• Duke is better than the experts think. Coach Cutcliffe always puts up a solid offense and usually a very good overall team. The Blue Devils are at home against an overrated Northwestern Wildcats group that is only 5-9-1 as a Road Favorite over the last 10 years. “The Gut” knows that the Wildcats beat Duke two years in a row. But he also knows that it’s time for payback down in Durham, NC. PICK: DUKE!

Week 1 NFL

Atlanta (-6) over Chicago

• I love the Bears but I could NOT believe when I saw that the Falcons were only favored by a touchdown sans PAT. Like I said, I believe in this Bears team, but remember that Atlanta is the defending NFC Champion. They have a fantastic offense and they are ready to get that bad taste out of their mouths from Super Bowl 51’s epic collapse. Gary “The Gut” sees Atlanta winning by 10 points straight up, 27-17.
