Gary “The Gut” Goombah : Week 12

Wall Street2

Gary “The Gut” Goombah is turning back the clock this week. He’s going all the way back to the wonderful 1980s to unearth some inspiration for this week’s selections. The inspiration is Oliver Stone’s incredible film “Wall Street” starring Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, and Daryl Hannah. The confidence, the swagger, the money, the dirt, the…….greed. “The Gut” is using this theme to teach you to “go with your gut” and have confidence in your bets. Keep that in mind as you place your cash on teams this Saturday.

Las week Gary decided to start picking more than the usual 4 or 5 games. In fact, he found 7 solid gold locks! Now we’re on to Rivalry Week and “Blue Horseshoe LOVES Anacott Steel!” Before we get to Gary’s locks, let’s review last Saturday’s action.

Week 11 NCAA Selections:

Oklahoma St. Logo Oklahoma St. Cowboys (-20) over Kansas St. Wildcats – RESULT: Kansas St. upset OK State 45-40. LOSS!

Oklahoma Logo Oklahoma Sooners (-37) over Kansas Jayhawks – RESULT: Oklahoma won 41-3, eeking out a 38 point victory. WIN!

UCF logo UCF Knights (-14) over Temple Owls – RESULT: UCF throttled Temple 45-19, winning by 26. WIN!

Virginia Logo Virginia Cavaliers (+19) over Miami Hurricanes – “The Gut” won’t go so far as to call an upset, but he’s thinking Virginia (6-4) can cover those 19 large points. PICK VIRGINIA! RESULT: “The Gut” is proud of this pick. Miami struggled and won 44-28, winning by 16. WIN!

Boise St. logo Boise St. Broncos (-17.5) over Air Force Falcons – PICK BOISE…….BIG! RESULT: Boise won 44-19, winning by 25. WIN!

Texas Tech Logo2 Texas Tech Red Raiders (+6.5) over TCU Horned Frogs – PICK TEXAS TECH. RESULT: TCU dominated Tech, winning 27-3. LOSS!

Michigan Logo2 UPSET SPECIAL OF THE WEEK: Michigan Wolverines (+7) over Wisconsin Badgers – Gary “The Gut” clearly doesn’t like Wisconsin (10-0). He’s gonna keep picking against them until they lose. Michigan will cover the spread and will probably win the game straight up. Pick Michigan……..BIG! RESULT: Michigan got hosed by a couple calls. They then proceeded to get blown out in the 2nd half. Wisconsin won and proved “The Gut” wrong again. Wisconsin won 24-10. LOSS!

Week 12 NCAA Football Selections:

  • Using the point spreads in Friday’s Chicago Tribune, Gary has 7 picks against the spread (ATS) this week. Horseshoes are lucky, right? What if they are blue? Here are Gary’s “Lucky 7” for Rivalry Week:

Illinois logo Illinois Fighting Illini (+16.5) over Northwestern Wildcats – Don’t be misled by Northwestern’s 8-3 record. They are not that good. They are 5-3-3 according to the old pre-overtime rules. Is 5-3-3 that good? I think not, and neither does Gary. You don’t just come into Memorial Stadium and assume victory. Lovie and his Illini only lost by 14 at home to Wisconsin. Of course, Wisky isn’t as good as their 11-0 record either. LOL! I love bashing other B1G teams in the course of one article. Illinois isn’t very good, we all know that. But Northwestern’s not that good either, especially 16 and half points better on the road. PICK ILL-INI !!!

Michigan Logo2 Michigan Wolverines (+11.5) over Ohio St. Buckeyes – The Game! Michigan is at home in the Big House. They’ve been looking forward to this one for an entire year after last year’s amazing “Game of Inches” settled in Overtime. “The Gut” thinks the Wolves might win straight up. He LOVES getting 11.5 points at home. PICK Michigan!

Kansas Logo Kansas Jayhawks (+41) over Oklahoma St. Cowboys – 41 points is just too many. PICK Kansas. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Boise St. logo Boise St. Broncos (-7) over Fresno St. Bulldogs – “The Gut” LOVES Boise! PICK Boise St.!

Notre Dame Logo Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-2) over Stanford Cardinal – We don’t think that highly of Stanford this season. I mean, they’re ok, especially with superstar RB Bryce Love. Problem is……Love has been playing on a gimpy ankle. How much longer before it gives out? Notre Dame is a much better team in our opinion. They have two losses, by one point against one-loss Georgia, and at one-loss Miami in a virtual unwinnable environment for a road team. PICK ND!

Georgia Bulldog logo Georgia Bulldogs (-11) over Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Gary, the “Blue Horseshoe” LOVES Anacott Steel (Georgia)! PICK UGA!

Wall Street

Auburn Logo UPSET SPECIAL OF THE SEASON! Auburn Tigers (+4.5) over Alabama Crimson Tide – The Iron Bowl is a game for all the marbles once again this year. Alabama is playing in just their 4th true road game of the entire season. Talk about a weak schedule. Sure ‘Bama destroyed Vanderbilt at Vandy 59-0. What did they do in their other two road games? They won by only 8 (27-19) at Texas A&M and barely squeaked by Mississippi St. in Starkville 31-24. Any red flags flying in your mind? Gary sees red flags galore. Now they have to face an actual good team on the road. PICK AUBURN! WAR EAGLE!

We know what you’re thinking……no mentions of Gary’s lavish estate? Well, where do you think Gary got some of his decorating ideas for the mansion? Look no further than Gordon Gecko, Bud Fox, and that insane interior designer Darien Taylor (played by Daryl Hannah!) Oh that 80s New York modern art scene……priceless! And timeless! LOL!

Gary’s final thoughts on Rivalry week are to bet big, win big, look good by dressing good, feel good, play good, and of course, go with your “Gut”. Always remember that information is king. So stay positive and confident. When you’re in the business of betting big cash on games, “Greed is good”. Enjoy your winnings. See you next week.
