I Write Like………..
Thanks to my fellow WordPress writer, blogger, and friend Darren “D.C.” Gilbert for passing along this really interesting writing tool. It’s an analytical tool that allows writers to paste their own works into this website. The website quickly analyzes your writing style and gives you the name of a writer in which you are similar. I’m not sure if they always provide you with a really famous writer, but for D.C. and I they were definitely successful and famous authors.
After reading D.C.’s post, I decided to give it a whirl. I actually tried it twice. I used two different posts, “My Buddy Brad” and “History of….. The Butkus League” to see if they gave me the same author both times. Sure enough, they did! They informed me I write like………. Agatha Christie.
I’m not sure what to make of it. I’ve never read Agatha Christie, as far as I know. For more on the British writer, from the “I Write Like” website:
“Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie DBE (née Miller; 15 September 1890 – 12 January 1976) was a British crime writer of novels, short stories, and plays. She also wrote romances under the name Mary Westmacott, but she is best remembered for her 66 detective novels and more than 15 short story collections (especially those featuring Hercule Poirot or Miss Jane Marple), and her successful West End plays.
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time. Her novels have sold roughly four billion copies, and her estate claims that her works rank third, after those of William Shakespeare and the Bible, as the most widely published books. According to Index Translationum, Christie is the most translated individual author, with only the collective corporate works of Walt Disney Productions surpassing her. Her books have been translated into at least 103 languages.”
So I write like Agatha Christie. I’ll take it. “So I got that going for me, which is nice”.
If you’d like to see who you write like, click here. Let me know who you get!
I got Kurt Vonnegut. I haven’t read any of his works, but I’ll take their word for it! Apparently, he used a more satire approach, which seems simular to my writing style (at times).

I tried it twice. I used a recent Commentary post, and then my most recent Book Review.
For Commentary, I got Arthur Clarke.
For Book Review, I got Dan Brown.
I’m not complaining, just fascinated!

Very cool. This is definitely fun. I’m glad I got the same author for two different articles. It makes me trust it more. Thanks for playing!
