Gary’s Week 7 Selections

NCAA Selections

Friday Night Special: Maryland Terrapins (-10.5) over Northwestern Wildcats – Have you guys noticed how Gary picks against Northwestern virtually EVERY SINGLE WEEK? What’s that all about? PICK: Maryland

USC Trojans (+4.5) over Penn St. Nittany Lions – Penn State travels to the West Coast for an old Rose Bowl type matchup at ‘SC. PICK: USC

Cal Bears (+3.5) over Pitt Panthers – Cal absolutely blew it last week against Miami. Now they travel East to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Gary thinks Cal will rebound as a road ‘dog. PICK: Cal

Alabama Crimson Tide (-21.5) over South Carolina Gamecocks – After getting upset at Vanderbilt, the Crimsom Tide likely had an intense week of practice. We expect them to come out and dominate the ‘Cocks. PICK: Alabama

Red River Shootout: Oklahoma Sooners (+14.5) over Texas Longhorns – More than two touchdowns is quite a bit for a Red River Battle. Gary likes OU in this one. FIRE your guns! PICK: Oklahoma

Game of the Week: Ohio State (-3.5) at Oregon – This is a battle of B1G behemoths. So much emotion in this one. It’s a Rose Bowl type of game. It might be a prelude to a rematch in the CFP Playoffs, or actually, in the Big Ten Championship Game. Are we still doing Conference Championship games? Anyway, this game is so special it’s going to be on TV at 6:30pm central time…. on NBC. NBC? Oh brother. These guys do the worst job broadcasting games so far this year. Anybody else. I mean, I might even enjoy CBS Sports Network over NBC. I’m not talking about CBS. I’m talking about that extra CBS channel, you know, the one that puts on Navy vs Tulane or one of those lower level games. As for this game, Gary thinks the Ducks will smell victory in this one. We’re looking forward to it…. except for the broadcast crew. PICK: Oregon

Gary’s “Pick 6” NFL Selections

Chicago Bears (-2.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars in London – This game is overseas, starting at 8:30am central time. Jax is used to playing in London, as they’ve done it maybe 13 years in a row. Chicago is a better team and on a roll at 3-2 with an improving offense and a defense that has held opponents to 20 points or less for a league leading 11 games in a row. PICK: Chicago

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) over New Orleans Saints – This week Gary is taking some advice from the famous gambler Marc Lawrence. In Marc Lawrence’s Playbook preseason magazine, he picked his “best bets” for each team out of their 17 game schedules. For Tampa Bay, Marc picked this one AGAINST New Orleans. Gary agrees. Therefore… PICK: Tampa Bay

Philadelphia Eagles (-9.5) over Cleveland Browns – Nine and a half points is quite a bit, but Philly just had a bye week (HC Nick Sirianni is 3-0 after byes), and they’re getting injured players back including Devonta Smith, A.J. Brown, and Lane Johnson. Plus, Cleveland is really bad (1-4). I saw a weird moment last week in which QB Deshaun Watson refused to play on a 4th and goal. He basically walked off the field despite his head coach wanting him to stay in to go for the touchdown. Instead, they had to call timeout and kick a field goal. What??? PICK: Philadelphia

Denver Broncos (+3) over Los Angeles Chargers – Likewise, Marc Lawrence picked Denver this week over the L.A. Chargers. Gary likes it. Therefore…. PICK: Denver

Dallas Cowboys (+3) over Detroit Lions

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) over New York Giants

A special “thank you” goes to Marc Lawrence this week for his gambling advice. We love the “Playbook”, despite the lousy cover photo of the beautiful zoomed-in, up-close photo of a boogery Andy Reid. That’s it for Week 7. Good luck!
