Chicago Bears at Seattle Seahawks Preview

Chicago Bears (4-10) at Seattle Seahawks (5-9)

Regarding the Chicago Bears 2021 season, there’s not much left to play for. I guess we could say the same for the Seahawks. That’s why these games are always difficult to prognosticate. As for you Bears fans, you know this is simply a bad team. As for Seattle, they’re not very good either, but at least they have QB Russell Wilson and WR D.K. Metcalf.

Rookie quarterback Justin Fields is out today (ankle), and so is backup Andy Dalton (hand). Therefore, we’ll see the return of season-long 3rd stringer Nick Foles. Last we saw Foles was in 2020, one day short of a full year. Foles attempted one incomplete pass at Jacksonville on December 27, 2020. Foles’ last meaningful game was against the Minnesota Vikings at Soldier Field on November 16, 2020 in a 19-13 loss. He went 15-26 for 106 yards and 1 interception, getting sacked twice for a QB rating of 51.1.

Watch Out For…

  • The weather today may call for snow in Seattle. That might be fun.
  • Bears OLB #94 Robert Quinn has a somewhat quiet 16 sacks, 2nd in the NFL. The Bears franchise record is 17.5 sacks by the great DE #95 Richard Dent. Quinn’s personal high was 19 sacks way back in 2013. Can he make a “dent” in those numbers today and over the last remaining games (vs Giants, at Vikings).
  • The Seahawks are favored by 7 points.

Troy Aikman’s Efficiency Rating (AER)

  • Chicago Bears (4-10) : 30th offense, 23rd defense
  • Seattle Seahawks (5-9) : 19th offense, 16th defense

Football Outsiders

  • Chicago : 24th overall, 26th offense, 18th defense, 8th special teams
  • Seattle : 17th overall, 13th offense, 25th defense, 3rd special teams

Team Rankings

  • Chicago : 27th overall
  • Seattle : 17th overall
