Gary “The Gut” Goombah – Week 21, 2024-’25
Albeit a little late, we’re going to post our selections for NFL Championship Sunday. First, let’s recap the Divisional Round and CFP National Championship.
Week 20 Recap
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+8.5) over Ohio State Buckeyes – We were worried about this matchup, and rightfully so. Ohio State punched Notre Dame in the mouth and became the unlikely/likely champ of the 2024 College Football season. Final Score: Ohio St. 34-23. Result: Lost
AFC Divisional Round
Houston Texans (+8.5) over Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs covered, barely, winning by nine points. Final Score: Chiefs won 23-14. Result: Lost
Buffalo Bills (+1.5) over Baltimore Ravens – THE GAME OF THE YEAR!!! Indeed, this game lived up the hype. Buffalo held off the Ravens by a final score of 27-25. Result: WON!
NFC Divisional Round
Detroit Lions (-8.5) over Washington Redskins/Commanders – This was kind of a surprise. Washington won on the road, at Detroit, by grabbing 5 takeaways. Final Score: Washington 45-31. Result: Lost
Los Angeles Rams (+6.5) over Philadelphia Eagles – The Eagles won by six points, ONLY six points. LOL. The Rams covered, according to the line we used. Final Score: Philadelphia 28-22. Result: WON!
Week 20 Results: 2-3 (40%) Overall; (0-1 NCAA; 2-2 NFL)
Season Results: 104-106-2 (49.5%) Overall; ((51-48 (52.0%) NCAA, 6-1 in the CFP!; 53-57-2 (48.1%) NFL, 0-1 CFL))
Gary’s Week 21 Selections
NFC Championship
Philadelphia Eagles (-6.5) over Washington Redskins/Commanders – I know it’s easy to predict this now, what with the Eagles winning 48-23 midway through the 4th quarter. Trust us, trust in the “Gut”. He was picking Philadelphia, at home, all week, no matter what the point spread was. Six and a half points was way too easy. PICK: Philadelphia
AFC Championship
Buffalo Bills (+1.5) over Kansas City Chiefs – THE GAME OF THE YEAR PART 2!!! – We’ve been waiting for this game for not only all season, but for several years to be honest. We’re big Bills fans over here, and the misery doled out by the Kansas City Chiefs becomes unbearable at times. This is the year! Buffalo all the way! Buffalo has Kansas City’s number in the regular season (28-21-1 overall since the 1960 AFL debut, 4-1 since Josh Allen started playing in the series), but the trend is reversed in the AFC Playoffs (Chiefs lead 4-2 overall, the Bills winning at the conclusion of the ’91 and ’93 seasons, the Chiefs winning in ’66, ’20, ’21, and ’23). As you can see, Patrick Mahomes has ended the Bills season three times over four years. Tonight will be a reversal. The Bills are due. The Chiefs have snuck by all season. It’s over. The city of Buffalo shall rejoice! On to Super Bowl 59! PICK: Buffalo
“Whether rich or poor, thou shalt gamble more” – Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s mantra

😖😭 Every Bills fan knows the emptiness of the morning after your hopes and dreams have been dashed for another year. It happened. It’s over. FOR NOW.
Because as always, WE WILL BE BACK. Defeat is nothing more than a weighted workout BUILDING THE MUSCLES OF OUR FUTURE SELVES and we shall, at a date unforeseen to us at this time but nonetheless destined to BE, embrace the crown that we continue to strive for.
I for one shall direct all my empowered energy JU JU toward a Super Bowl win for the Philadelphia Eagles. Silver Linings Playbook happens to be one of my favorite movies and the intense crazy-ass passion of the Solitano family for their beloved Eagles warms my heart. And may this scene I’ll share HERE serve as a reminder never to argue about JU JU with a passionate woman who knows how to read the signs AND does her research. You’ll never beat her.
Thanks for the great posts Reid. Much appreciated. 😃
GO FORTH, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES!! KICK SOME KC BUTT. 👊🎇🎇
