Kent State Golden Flashes (+45.5) over Florida State Seminoles – We have our reservations about Gary’s pick here, as Kent State is a god-awful team. Two years ago: 1-11. Last year: 0-12. This year: 1-2 so far. That’s two wins over their last 27 games. Bottom line, 45.5 points is a lot of points to cover. Prediction: FSU 55, Kent St. 10. That would be a 45 point winner! PICK: Kent State
Oklahoma Sooners (-6.5) over Auburn Tigers – The Sooners are rolling right now. “The Gut” thinks this is an easy cover. PICK: Oklahoma at home as Venables is 17-4 at home
SMU Mustangs (+7.5) over TCU Horned Frogs – This looks like a great game, an even matchup. Gary is taking the underdog to at least keep it closer than 6.5 points. PICK: SMU
Air Force Falcons (+10.5) over Boise St. Broncos – Air Force usually keeps it close vs the Mountain West champs, Boise State. PICK: Air Force at home as a home ‘dog
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-25.5) over Purdue Boilermakers – Yeah, we know ND is 0-2. We know this is a lot of points. However, we think the Irish will have a big performance at home over their in-state rival Purdue. Last year, ND was favored by only seven points on the road in West Lafayette. Final Score was ND 66-7. PICK: Notre Dame
Indiana Hoosiers (-6.5) over Illinois Fightin’ Illini – I, as a UofI alum, pleaded with Gary to reconsider this pick. But Gary doesn’t give a darn what I think. He’s his own man. “The Gut” thinks Indiana is really good at home under Cignetti. By the way, all the “Cig” references in Bloomington are alarming. But not nearly as alarming as “Candy Cigarettes” sold to us kids in the 1980s. Can you believe that they actually sold these to us!?! Nuts! Pick: Indiana
