Gary “The Gut” Goombah – Week 12, 2025

Gary is SO very disappointed in himself this year. However, “The Gut” still feels confident. It’s weird, right? It’s kind of this feeling of “I know what I’m doing. It must be bad luck so far this season. Why else would I be losing?”

Mr. Goombah still has a huge opportunity left in 2025. It’s only Week 12 for goshsakes, AND, the season lasts longer than ever nowadays. We’ll be picking games until February…. so let’s start winning now in November. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which is when the important games really start.

Week 11 Recap

NCAA Selections – all odds taken from the Chicago Sun-Times

Arizona Wildcats (-5.5) over Kansas Jayhawks – Final Score: Arizona won by four points, 24-20. Result: Lost

Oregon Ducks (-6.5) over Iowa Hawkeyes – Ducks won a tight game in a rainy Iowa City. Final Score: Oregon 18-16. Result: Lost

Nebraska Cornhuskers (+1.5) over UCLA Bruins – Nebraska won as predicted out on the West Coast. Final Score: Nebraska 28-21. Result: WON!

Vanderbilt Commodores (-6.5) over Auburn Tigers – We got lucky here, because this game was tied at the end of regulation. Eventually, Vanderbilt won 45-38 in OT, and covered….. barely. Result: WON!

Indiana Hoosiers (-14.5) over Penn St. Nittany Lions – Indiana came back and won a thrilling game 27-24, but they struggled and did not cover. Result: Lost

Kentucky Wildcats (+3.5) over Florida Gators – Kentucky indeed dominated Florida, winning 38-7. Result: WON!

Game of the Week: BYU Cougars (+10.5) over Texas Tech Red Raiders – Gary missed on his “Game of the Week”. TTech simply dominated the Cougs 29-7, in a game that was probably more lopsided than the score indicated. Result: Lost

Chicago Bears (-4.5) over New York Giants – Bears had another comeback win, but the hook got us…. again. Final Score: Chicago 24-20. Result: Lost

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-2.5) over New England Patriots – Gary has picked TB almost every week, it’s almost laughable, but he seems to be winning on the Bucs most of the time. Not this time. Final Score: New England 28-23. Result: Lost

Buffalo Bills (-9.5) over Miami Dolphins – Miami upset the Bills. Final Score: 30-13. Result: Lost

Indianapolis Colts (-6.5) over Atlanta Falcons – Indy won by six points, in OT, 31-25. The hook got us again. Result: Lost

Houston Texans (+1.5) over Jacksonville Jaguars – Houston won by seven points, 36-29. Result: WON!

Detroit Lions (-8.5) over Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders – Detroit crushed D.C. 44-22. Result: WON!

Philadelphia Eagles (+1.5) over Green Bay Packers – The Eagles won on the road at GB, as predicted, 10-7. Result: WON!

LOCK OF THE WEEK: Green Bay Packers (-7) over New York Giants – Gary usually likes teams to rebound after a loss, especially in the NFL, where teams are inconsistent and trending towards the .500 mark. Green Bay is a MUCH better team than New York, despite the records. The Giants are a huge mess right now, with no head coach and injuries. PICK: Green Bay to dominate and cover this easy seven point spread

Miami Dolphins (-2.5) over Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders – Like the Giants, D.C. is a mess right now. Without Jayden Daniels, they are scuffling. PICK: Miami at Miami

Houston Texans (-5.5) over Tennessee Titans – This one seems too easy to “The Gut”. Houston is a waaaaay better team than the Titans, and is only favored by 5.5 points. What are we missing? PICK: Houston

San Francisco 49ers (-3) over Arizona Cardinals

Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5) over Cincinnati Bengals – Pitt is at home, while the Bengals defense is probably staying at their home in Cincy, haha. Like Houston, this one seems too easy. PICK: Pittsburgh

MNF: Dallas Cowboys (-3.5) over Oakland/Los Angeles/Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders – We know what you’re thinking…. Dallas stinks. Dallas is on the road. Yeah, so what?
