Season Results: 35-41 (46.1%) Overall; (18-25 NCAA, 17-16 NFL)
Week 7 Recap
Penn State Nittany Lions (-22.5) over Northwestern Wildcats – Final Score: Northwestern upset PSU in Happy Valley 22-21, thus ending the Nittany Lions’ season. HC James Franklin was fired as they are just 3-3 this year. Does this Nittany Lions’ lost season symbolize a lost season for Dutch Lion also? Not really, remember these are Gary “The Gut’s” picks, not Dutch’s. Result: Lost
Georgia Bulldogs (-3.5) over Auburn Tigers – Final Score: Georgia won by ten points, 20-10. Result: WON!
Tennessee Volunteers (-12.5) over Arkansas Razorbacks – Final Score: Tennessee only won by three points, 34-31. Result: Lost
LSU Tigers (-8.5) over South Carolina Gamecocks – Final Score: LSU covered, winning by ten points, 20-10. Result: WON!
Arizona Wildcats (+1.5) over BYU Cougars – Final Score: BYU won by six points in Overtime, 33-27. You know, this brings up one of my (Dutch Lion’s) main complaints about gambling. Think about what happened here…. the 1.5 point underdog Wildcats did indeed play better than the experts thought, getting the game to OT. This means they actually played regulation to a tie, which means they actually should have won this bet. Just because Overtime allows the game score to continue, it isn’t fair to penalize an underdog team that extended the game by “winning the ATS in regulation”. In other words, if they lost in regulation by one point, they would have won the ATS, but instead, they tied it (which is indeed better) so they got penalized and lost the ATS. DUMB! Result: Lost
Clemson Tigers (-14.5) over Boston College Eagles – Final Score: Clemson destroyed BC 41-10. Result: WON!
Nebraska Cornhuskers (-6.5) over Maryland Terrapins – Final Score: Nebraska came back to win S/U 34-31, but lost ATS. Result: Lost
BONUS PICK! Take Western Michigan to cover the 9.5 points over Ball State in some MACtion. (PS Gary does NOT approve of this Selection.) – Final Score: Western Michigan clobbered Ball State 42-0! Dutch Lion and his family all had a swell time, enjoyed Waldo Stadium, and loved the pregame tailgating with our daughter and her WMU friends! Result: WON!
Gary’s Lucky Seven NFL Selections
New Orleans Saints (+3.5) over New England Patriots – Final Score: New England won by six points, 25-19. Result: Lost
Dallas Cowboys (-3) over Carolina Panthers – Final Score: Panthers won by three points, 30-27. Result: Lost
Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5) over Cleveland Browns – Final Score: Pittsburgh won by 14 points, 23-9. Result: WON!
Jacksonville Jaguars (-1.5) over Seattle Seahawks – Final Score: Seattle upset Jax by eight points, 20-12. Result: Lost
Los Angeles Chargers (-4.5) over Miami Dolphins – Final Score: L.A. won the game, but only by two points, 29-27. No cover. Result: Lost
Detroit Lions (+2.5) over Kansas City Chiefs – Final Score: Kansas City dominated once again, 30-27. Looks like they’re back to their winning ways. Result: Lost
Chicago Bears (+4.5) over Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders – Final Score: Bears won an awesome game at the buzzer, 25-24. Result: WON!
Week 7 Results: 6-9 (40%) Overall; (4-4 NCAA, 2-5 NFL)
Season Results: 41-50 (45.1%) Overall; (22-29 NCAA, 19-21 NFL)
Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Week 8 Selections
NCAA Selections
Tennessee Volunteers (+8.5) over Alabama Crimson Tide
Michigan Wolverines (-5.5) over Washington Huskies – We think we remember picking UW over the Wolverines last year, when the game was at Washington. The Huskies won 27-17. This time it’s at Michigan. They’re only favored by 5.5 points? Gary expects the Wolverines to cover that smallish spread. PICK: Michigan
Oklahoma Sooners (-5.5) over South Carolina Gamecocks – OU should have a healthier John Mateer back under center. The ‘Cocks have LaNorris Sellers, who seems vastly overrated. PICK: OU
Texas A&M Aggies (-7.5) over Arkansas Razorbacks – A&M is really good. Arkansas is really bad. PICK: Texas A&M
BYU Cougars (+3.5) over Utah Utes – “The Holy War” is surprising us with the home team underdog status for Brigham Young. BYU is undefeated, at 6-0! They’re at home, and getting points? Utah is 5-1, but something seems fishy here. Gary is strongly in favor of BYU in this one. PICK: BYU
Oregon Ducks (-17.5) over Rutgers Scarlet Knights – “The Gut” expects the Ducks to come out fired up after last week’s surprising loss at home to Indiana. PICK: Oregon
Texas Tech Red Raiders (-7.5) over Arizona State Sun Devils – It sounds like ASU starting QB Sam Leavitt might not play. PICK: Texas Tech
Gary’s “Lucky Seven” NFL Selections
Chicago Bears (-5.5) over New Orleans Saints – The Bears are hot, winning three in a row. The Saints are terrible, maybe the worst team in the NFL this year. PICK: Chicago
Las Vegas Raiders (+11.5) over Kansas City Chiefs – Gary picked Vegas mainly because of the high spread. Eleven and a half points is a lot to cover, and the Chiefs just had an emotional win over Detroit on SNF. PICK: Las Vegas to cover
Dallas Cowboys (+1.5) over Washington Commanders – Washington is very up-n-down. Dallas seems really good at home (1-0-1). They’ve only played twice at home so far, and four games on the road. The Cowboys have scored 40 points in both home games. PICK: Dallas
Minnesota Vikings (+2.5) over Philadelphia Eagles – Notice how Gary keeps picking home ‘dogs this week? Can the Vikes help Gary out? PICK: Minnesota
Arizona Cardinals (+6.5) over Green Bay Packers – Another home ‘dog for “The Gut”. PICK: Arizona
Jacksonville Jaguars (+3) over Los Angeles Rams – Another home underdog. PICK: Jacksonville
Denver Broncos (-7) over New York Giants – Lots of hype over New York (2-4) lately, but the Broncos (4-2) are a better team. Denver is at home. PICK: Denver
That’s it for Week 8. We hope to get back on the winning track, or else Gary “The Gut” might be forced into early retirement. And then he’ll need to sell all his assets to pay the nursing home bill. Ugh! Not the mention the life insurance premiums for degenerate gamblers. So please God, let’s “put it on the board!”
“Whether rich or poor, thou shalt gamble more” – Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s mantra

I guess at the end of the day whomever’s starting QB actually started was gonna win that Texas Tech-Arizona State game. I think the Utah-BYU line was a combo of respect for Utah’s Head Coach Wittingham and the very nature of the rivalry. What happened to those Huskers? Friday night was a big surprise for me. Matt Rhule to Penn State rumors maybe has everyone on edge?

I got some bad info on that TTech/ASU game. Like you said, instead of ASU’s Leavitt being out, instead it was TTech’s Behren Morton who didn’t play. Wow, I screwed up on that one (I mean Gary).
I was very, very disappointed with Nebraska on Friday night. Just an awful performance. We have more talent than Minnesota but lost to them, as usual. They play the Big Ten “rock fight” type of game, which is annoying. Not sure if the Matt Rhule rumors played into it or not.
So I think we went 4-3 yesterday with the college games, not sure about the NFL results yet.
