Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Season Finale – Super Bowl 60

Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Season Finale – Super Bowl 60 Preview

We made it! We finally made it to the end of this brutal 2025-26 season. Brutal for whom?… you may be asking. Certainly not for our hometown Chicago Bears. They had a magical season after spending years in the wilderness. Winning the NFC North for the first time since 2018 was really good. Winning an NFC Playoff game for the first time since 2010 was awesome. Beating the Packers two out of three times this year, including beating them in the NFC Wild Card Round on a long TD pass in Overtime?! That was incredible!!!

Brutal season? Oh yeah, we’re talking about Gary and his gamblers. They have endured many trials, half-point hook losses, and old-fashioned butt whippings topped off by brass knuckle sandwiches from those thugs over at Draft Kings. Thugs?…. you may be asking? Not the Draft Kings employees themselves, more like the Illinois politicians who tacked on an extra tax for gamblers if you’re here within our state borders. Couple that expense along with our brutal record, and Gary’s gamblers have endured alright. Endured a year of financial losses. It’s enough to make one move to Indiana. Chicago Bears moving to Indiana?…. you may be asking? Well, it could happen if Bears President Kevin Warren doesn’t get those property taxes down on the Arlington Heights property. I read somewhere that the estimated property taxes for the Bears would be between $100 and $200 million per year!?! What!? The biggest in the NFL is the Rams and Chargers pay about $8 per year for SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. C’mon guys, stop screwing around. The Illinois politicians need to make this fair. About $10 million per year would be MORE than fair. Get it done.

Meanwhile, enough politics. Let’s finish this season strong! Today we’ll not only give you a guarantee, a la Joe Namath, but we’ll throw out some prop bets and other ideas. First, let’s recap Championship Sunday from two weeks ago.

Week 22 Recap

NFL Playoff Selections – Championship Sunday

New England Patriots (-3.5) over Denver Broncos – Final Score: New England 10, Denver 7. Of course it was a three point victory by the Patriots. Good for them, bad for the bettors. Gary “The Gut’s” season in a nutshell. Result: Lost

Los Angeles Rams (+2.5) over Seattle Seahawks – Final Score: Seattle 31, L.A. 27. Of course it was a four point win by Seattle, just barely covering their 2.5 point favorite status. Result: Lost

Week 22 Results: 0-2 (0%) Overall; (0-2 NFL)
Season Results: 131-151-3 (46.5%) Overall; (67-80-2 NCAA, 64-71-1 NFL, with 2-1-1 on “Lock of the Week”)

Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Week 23 Selections – Super Bowl 60

Gary’s “Lock of the Week”: PICK: Seattle Seahawks (-4.5) over New England Patriots

Gary “The Gut” Goombah sees a clear victory by Seattle tonight over New England. They should win easily. By how much you might ask? 10, 11, 12, 13 points maybe? 14 points!? Sure, why not!

Seahawks is 14-5 ATS for the season, with an 8-1 road ATS. Wowsers! Those numbers scream victory. However, the Patriots were 14-6 ATS, and 4-2 ATS as underdogs. Hmmm. New England might be on the precipice of a new dynasty, but they don’t seem as strong as Seattle. The Seahawks are clearly the better team, at least in Gary’s eyes.

Now let’s suggest some prop bets for Super Bowl 60.

Over/Under 45.5 points. Both New England (12-8) and Seattle (11-8) hit the over more often. That’s 23-16 for the over. PICK: OVER 45.5 points

Over/Under 7.5 total punts. PICK: OVER 7.5 punts – We like punting and think these coaches might actually be forced to punt rather than going for it on 4th down all the time. There’s still some room for conservatism.

MVP: PICK: Kenneth Walker/RB/Seattle +700 (4th best odds behind the QB’s and Jaxon Smith-Njigba)

Kicking Points: PICK: Jason Myers/K/Seattle OVER 8.5 kicking points (i.e. three field goals would be 9 points, or two field goals and 3 PAT’s would be 9 points)

Ok, that’s all. Thank God for an exciting Bears season. Let’s enjoy the game today, and then we should rest up for next year. Gary is. He’ll be flying back to his private island in the South Pacific to get away from the brass knuckle gang. Plus, he just needs a break. Don’t forget, it won’t be long and baseball will be back in our lives. Have fun today!
