Gary “The Gut” Goombah – Week 6, 2026
The ides of October are nearing…… The “ides” you say?…. Sure, he replied.
Gary’s brain is fried from working overtime on these point spreads. I don’t know how he does it. Personally, I feel like it’s all random. He doesn’t think so. He thinks he knows something. He’s a number cruncher. He’s a believer in data.
So what will Gary come up with this week? First let’s recap his winning week. Then we’ll get to his confident selections. Let’s get to it.
Week 5 Recap

Virginia Tech Hokies (-2.5) over Pitt Panthers – Pitt beat VTech, 35-33. Result: Lost
TCU Horned Frogs (+6.5) over BYU Cougars – BYU beat TCU by 7 points, 17-10. Result: Lost
Florida St. Seminoles (+2.5) over Virginia Cavaliers – Florida St. creamed Virginia 38-17. Result: WON!
Minnesota Golden Gophers (+5.5) over Michigan Wolverines – Final Score: Minnesota upset Michigan, 20-14. Result: WON!

Gary’s Lucky NFL Selections
Chicago Bears (-3.5) over New York Jets – Chicago covered the spread easily, winning by 11 points, 23-12. Result: WON!
Seattle Seahawks (-7) over Los Angeles Chargers – Gary is NOT HAPPY with this game. Seattle had an easy, 17 point lead going into the 4th quarter but blew the spread. They still won S/U 30-23, but gave up 10 lousy points, including a FG with just 2 minutes left. Thus, they pushed the 7 point spread. Result: PUSH
Detroit Lions (-3.5) over Carolina Panthers – Carolina upset Detroit 32-26. Result: Lost
Week 5 Results: 5-4-1 (55.6%) Overall; (4-3 NCAA, 1-1-1 NFL)
Season Results: 19-25-3 (43.2%) Overall; (13-17-1 NCAA, 6-8-2 NFL, including 0-1 “Lock of the Week”
Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Week 6 Selections
NCAA Selections (All selections are ATS. All point spreads from Friday’s Chicago Sun-Times)
Game of the Week: Georgia Bulldogs (+1.5) over Alabama Crimson Tide – It seems like Gary always picks UGA over ‘Bama, and yet ‘Bama usually beats UGA. This time, the game is in Tuscaloosa, and they’re expecting hurricane weather. Will it be windy and rainy? Perhaps. Will that keep the offenses down? Perhaps. PICK: Georgia. Sic ’em Dawgs! Rooof, rooof!

Rooof, rooof!
Nebraska Cornhuskers (+7.5) over Indiana Hoosiers – Fox Big Noon is in Lincoln. My son Trev already sent me photos of them setting up for Saturday morning’s show. Nebraska might actually have a good team this year. Finally. Finally. It’s been awhile. PICK: Nebraska
Florida Gators (-11.5) over South Carolina Gamecocks
Oregon Ducks (-11.5) over UCLA Bruins
Texas Longhorns (-7.5) over Oklahoma Sooners – Red River Rivalry games are often wild. Gary thinks Texas is a much better team than they’ve shown. Coming out of their bye, he thinks they will show improvement, and beat OU by more than 10 points. PICK: Texas
USC Trojans (+1.5) over Penn St. Nittany Lions – With a name like Trojans, how can you go wrong? This game is in Happy Valley. Thus, the Lions are favored. However, Gary simply thinks USC is a much better team than PSU. PICK: USC
Houston Cougars (+2.5) over Kansas St. Wildcats
Gary’s Lucky NFL Selections
Chicago Bears (-1.5) over Green Bay Packers
New York Jets (-2.5) over Cleveland Browns
Houston Texans (-7.5) over Tennessee Titans
Cincinnati Bengals (-6.5) over Miami Dolphins
That’s it for Gary this week. 7 college games. 4 NFL games. 11 of his best gambling selections for this weekend. Good luck!
