Gary “The Gut” Goombah’s Week 8 Selections
NCAA Selections (All selections are ATS. All point spreads are from Friday’s Chicago Sun-Times)
LOCK OF THE WEEK: Boise St. Broncos (-12.5) over Washington St. Cougars – Gary sees Boise (5-1) winning by at least 20 over Wazzu (1-6). Why? Point Differential: Boise is a +13 points per game performer, while Washington St. has a -7 ppg average. PICK: Boise St.
Oklahoma Sooners (-5.5) over Mississippi St. Bulldogs – Once again, this could come down to the health of Mississippi State’s QB Kamario Taylor. As of press time, it says he is “expected to attempt to play” through his toe injury. Honestly, Gary doesn’t think it’s enough. Part of Taylor’s allure is his mobility and running ability. EVEN if he attempts to play, how long will he last? Gary says bet on OU. PICK: Oklahoma
LSU Tigers (-7) over Auburn Tigers – Yeah, we know Auburn just had a huge win at Georgia. EXACTLY. Expect an emotional comedown after that victory. LSU is really good too. Can they cover by a touchdown? Gary thinks so. PICK: LSU
Virginia Tech Hokies (+2.5) over Clemson Tigers
Arizona Wildcats (-10) over Iowa St. Cyclones
Gary’s Lucky NFL Selections
Detroit Lions (-3.5) over Green Bay Packers – These NFL North games are so important. Home team definitely has the advantage. PICK: Detroit
Los Angeles Rams (-4.5) over Las Vegas Raiders – The Rams have had a rough start to their season. Playing the Raiders will be good for their health. PICK: L.A. Rams
Indianapolis Colts (+6.5) over Minnesota Vikings – Gary expects both Minnesota and Green Bay to come back down to Earth a little this week. Even if the Vikings win, he expects a closer game than 6.5 points. PICK: Indianapolis
Last week’s mediocre .500 winning percentage was fine, coming after two awesome weeks in a row. Can Gary get back on the winning side? “The Gut” has 8 selections for us this weekend (5 college, 3 pro). Let’s go Gary!!!
