I agree! It’s a fantastic quote. Funny yet seriously important, all at the same time.

This quote certainly rings true with me, and my family. We lost three uncles within two weeks during the month of April. One out of three took care of himself, and lived until age 89. The other two – Not so much.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, I love this quote because it is like a comedic joke yet at the same time it’s totally important and true. Mantle honestly never thought he’d live to be old because his father and all of his uncles died by the age of 50. They worked in the coal mines and all died from lung disease, etc. So Mantle kind of assumed he would suffer the same fate. He drank way too hard for his entire life. It’s a shame.
