This week, Gary is so very…….certain. Certain that his picks will give you victory in dominating fashion. Last week went well. However, Gary wasn’t so pleased with his “LOCK OF THE YEAR”. Let’s recap a glorious Week 5:
Week 5 NCAA Selections (All selections are ATS. Point spreads are from Friday’s Chicago Tribune.)
West Virginia Mountaineers (-3.5) over Texas Tech Red Raiders – This should be a high-scoring affair. Gary’s going with the hot hand, the Mountaineers. PICK: West Virginia……FINAL SCORE: West Virginia 42 Texas Tech 34. An 8 point cover by the Mountaineers = WIN!
LSU Tigers (-11) over Mississippi Rebels – The Tigers are rolling. Ole Miss gave up 41 points to Southern Illinois. Geaux Tigers! PICK: LSU……. FINAL SCORE: LSU 45 Mississippi 16. A 29 point domination by LSU. This should have been Gary’s LOCK OF THE YEAR. Nonetheless LSU’s victory = HUGE WIN!
Oregon Ducks (-3) over California Bears – Gary has little to write about in this one. He thinks the Ducks are good and the Bears aren’t. PICK: Oregon……FINAL SCORE: Oregon 42 Cal 24. An 18 point pummeling of the Bears by the Ducks = BIG WIN!
Texas A&M Aggies (-21) over Arkansas Razorbacks – Sure A&M has 2 losses, but look who beat them: Clemson & Alabama. Meanwhile, Arkansas stinks like that skunk who scurries around under your deck. PICK: Texas A&M……..FINAL SCORE: Texas A&M 24 Arkansas 17. A bad performance by A&M = LOSS.
Penn St. Nittany Lions (+3) over Ohio St. Buckeyes – Two words: WHITE OUT! PICK: Penn St………..FINAL SCORE: Ohio St. 27 Penn St. 26…..An incredible game that sucked for PSU as they blew a big lead. However, the Nittany Lions covered, which means we have a BIG WIN!!!!
And now………
GARY’S 2018 LOCK OF THE YEAR! (At least until next week)
Michigan Wolverines (-14.5) over Northwestern Wildcats – Gary picked against the Wolves last week and they made him look silly, with a 46 point domination in a game they were favored by 17 points. This week they play a lousy, over-hyped Northwestern team with injuries galore. “The Gut” thinks Michigan will win by at least 20 points and probably more. PICK: Michigan……FINAL SCORE: Michigan 20 Northwestern 17 = TOUGH LOSS. I’m sorry for those of you that sunk all of your lifetime savings into Michigan. That was a bad choice. Oh well. Look on the bright side…..at least you won on 4 of 6 total games last week!
In addition to these Selections, check out our results in Tilted Kilt’s weekly “College Pick ‘Em” Game:

I know what you’re thinking…….how could you go 14-2 yet only go 4-2 in Gary’s Week 5 Selections? Two words: Bad Luck. No worries though. This is proof that we’re on the right track moving forward.
Season Totals:
- Week 1 : 1-4
- Week 2 : 2-3
- Week 3 : 2-3
- Week 4 : 1-4
- Week 5 : 4-2
- TOTALS: 10-16
Week 6 NCAA Selections (All selections are ATS. Point spreads are from Friday’s Chicago Tribune.)
Notre Dame Fighting Irish (-7) over Virginia Tech Hokies – VTech is known for their home atmosphere at Lane Stadium. They’re also known for their dominant defense. However, ND has a great team and the Hokies are dealing with losing their starting QB recently in Josh Jackson. I feel like Notre Dame will pull away in the 2nd half and win by more than a TD. PICK: Notre Dame
Arizona Wildcats (+2) over California Golden Bears – Gary loves home dogs and a fun selection this week is Arizona. ‘Zona is 12-8 as a home underdog over the last 10 years. Expect Arizona to get rolling on offense against the Cal Bears in this one in “Bear Down” country. Let’s make it 13-8. PICK: Arizona
Indiana Hoosiers (+25) over Ohio St. Buckeyes – I think the Hoosiers can cover 25 points against the Buckeyes. Don’t forget Ohio St. just had the dramatic comeback victory at Penn St. last week. So they probably think they can walk on water right now. I see a letdown by the Bucks. PICK: Indiana
Boise St. Broncos (-14) over San Diego St. Aztecs – Boise’s at home on the blue smurf turf, where the Broncos dominate! Boise is 58-5 at Albertsons Stadium over the last decade. Wo! That is a nice home-field advantage. PICK: Boise St.
GAME OF THE WEEK: Texas A&M Aggies (-5.5) over Kentucky Wildcats – I’m head over heels for A&M lately. So is Gary. He’s laying legal tender on A&M again for Saturday night’s matchup with Kentucky. The 12th Man will be out there, loud and proud, in College Station. Kentucky’s hot but A&M is just darn good. PICK: Texas A&M
Gary “The Gut” is on a hot streak! Therefore, I advise you to gamble big money this Saturday. If you need some extra dough, remember you can always run down to your local “Cash for Gold” store down by Julio’s Supermercado. So bet big and bet often. We’ll see you next week!
