Gary “The Gut” Goombah : Super Bowl 53
vs
Ladies & Gentlemen, Gary is still on vacation on his “Winter Break”. He took a quick flight on his private jet down to his island in the South Pacific for the holidays. He hasn’t come back yet…..
Nevertheless, we got on the horn, gave “The Gut” a buzz and got his take on Super Bowl 53. Because of limited time, we only have Gary’s Crystal Ball on the game score. We intended to get Gary’s “Prop” bets too but with all the current issues with the weather, we just couldn’t provide those. Also, the “Gut” was too busy sipping on Pine Coladas and messing around in the “summer sun” on his private island. Therefore, we only have two predictions for Super Bowl 53. Nonetheless, take these bets to the bank!!!

Super Bowl LIII
Los Angeles Rams (+2.5) over New England Patriots
After consulting with Gary “The Gut”, we’re taking the L.A. Rams over the N.E. Patriots 31-27. So not only are we taking L.A. against the spread (ATS) but we’re even going straight up (S/U)!
Gary sees the difference in this game being the Rams phenomenal defensive line. #99 Aaron Donald, #93 Ndamukong Suh, and #90 Michael Brockers, along with LB pass rushers #50 Samson Ebukam, and #56 Dante Fowler (underrated) will subdue the Patriots offense by using their power and quickness to disrupt New England’s backfield.
Everyone talks about the Rams fantastic offense but this defense is built to dominate. Ndamukong Suh played his best football of the year in the last two NFC Playoff games, the wins over Dallas and New Orleans. Suh played like the Suh of old, like the dominator at Nebraska in 1999 who singlehandedly destroyed college football foes en route to finishing 4th in the 1999 Heisman Trophy race. What’s crazier than finishing 4th as a defensive tackle?…… the fact that Suh probably should have won the Award.
Watch out for the Rams secondary as well. CB’s #22 Marcus Peters and #21 Aqib Talib will pick off Tom Brady and possibly take it to the house. That’s right folks. We’re talking a Pick 6 or a #ScoopNScore for L.A.
The biggest challenge for L.A. might be containing New England’s improving running game. RB’s #26 Sony “Playstation” Michel and #34 Rex Burkhead are hot. Expect Coach Belichick to get the running game going to limit the Rams excellent pass rush.
On the other side of the ball, the Rams are known for the legendary offense. QB #16 Jared Goff is a superstar in the making and his humble charisma plays well with his teammates. The same can be said for RB #30 Todd Gurley. He’s an excellent athlete but has been bugged by a knee injury as of late. If Gurley can’t produce, there’s always journeyman #35 C.J. Anderson. This rather large fellow has been making a name for himself lately, as a runner, even more than his physique. The Rams offense will be just fine in this ballgame.
This is a very close matchup. Overall, the Rams were built to win the Title this year. Their GM went “All In” in 2018 and it’s paying off. If the Rams win, their most likely MVP is the quarterback Jared Goff (+250), as you’d guess.
However, if you’re looking for a SB 53 prop bet, take a defensive stud like Donald (+1800) or Suh (+7500). For New England, outside of the obvious choice QB Tom Brady (+140), another place I’d look is New England’s running backs. As mentioned above, we love Sony (+1200) and Burkhead (+8000). But don’t forget they also have 3rd down back extraordinaire #28 James White (+2000). (Odds provided by Oddsshark.com)
Why bet on Brady for MVP? You’re basically winning a small sum. If we were gambling, we’d place our money on the Cornhuskers alums, Suh and Burkhead. Depending on who you think will win, we would suggest placing about $100 or $100, whatever your fancy, on Suh. At +7500, you can’t go wrong. Imagine the winnings!
That’s it for Super Bowl 53. Enjoy the game!
Another NFL season another New England appearance. I had a feeling they would find a way to win. Just an amazing run.

New England is so amazing. They’ve won 6 Titles and yet I believe this was their biggest victory…..just 10 points! Why do they “play down to their competition”? You’d think they would have won by a blowout, at least once! I mean seriously, it’s really strange when you think about it. They’re great but they barely get by every time, except for those 3 times they didn’t. 6-3 in SB’s with all 9 being close games. It’s kinda weird.

They could easily be 0-9 in the Brady era. When it comes to greatness or a bust the margin is paper thin.
