Chicago Bears 2018 Season Preview

In my Chicago Bears 2018 Draft Preview, I mentioned how I hoped the Bears would take Georgia LB Roquan Smith with their 8th overall pick. As luck would have it, they did. I’m ecstatic about Roquan. He was my favorite player in all of college football last season. He absolutely dominated in 2017. Smith made 137 tackles, 14 TFL’s, 6.5 sacks, 2 PBU’s, and an amazing 20 QB hurries from his MLB position. 20 hurries for an every-down pass rusher would be an awesome number. Roquan did it from his LB position. Truly incredible.

I’ll spend more time reviewing the Bears 2018 Draft and then analyzing the latest roster in coming weeks. For now, let me say that I’m extremely excited about this team and I have high hopes. You’ll likely think I’m out of my mind. You know I am!

Check out my Bears game-by-predictions. Remember that Chicago once again has the “4th place” schedule which means they have less first-place teams on the schedule and more teams that were also in 4th place in 2017. Of course, Chicago had a 4th place schedule last year too and it turned out that they ended up with the hardest schedule in the entire NFL, which is ridiculously bad luck. Oh well, that was last year and lightning doesn’t strike twice. On to better things in 2018!

Week 1 : @ Green Bay – Loss – The Packers are favored by 7 points on Sunday Night Football. I’ll take Green Bay S/U and Chicago ATS.

Week 2 : vs Seattle – WIN – The Seahawks are a shadow of their former selves. Bears should win their home opener on Monday Night Football.

Week 3 : @ Arizona – WIN

Week 4 : vs Tampa Bay – WIN – Tampa might be one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Week 5 : BYE WEEK

Week 6 : @ Miami – WIN

Week 7 : vs New England – Loss – New England is too good for Chicago. This will be a loss. I mean, let’s not get carried away.

Week 8 : vs New York Jets – WIN – The Jets STINK!

Week 9 : @ Buffalo – WIN – Buffalo…..they’re not very good.

Week 10 : vs Detroit – WIN – This would make the Bears 7-2.

Week 11 : vs Minnesota – Loss – Reality hits when the eventual Super Bowl Champs hit Soldier Field.

Week 12 : @ Detroit – Loss – Back to Back losses on a short week Thanksgiving Day game will send Bears fans into worry mode.

Week 13 : @ New York Giants – WIN – This could be a huge game for Chicago to get back on track. If the Bears are for real, they will win this game.

Week 14 : vs Los Angeles Rams – Loss – The Rams are superb. L.A. is a potentially great squad.

Week 15 : vs Green Bay – WIN – Chicago goes nuts as the Bears beat the hated rival Packers a week before Christmas.

Week 16 : @ San Francisco – WIN – San Fran is getting too much hype because of early success by young QB Jimmy Garoppolo. The truth is they are not that good.

Week 17 : @ Minnesota – Loss – The Vikings are just too good. The Bears will fall in the final game of the 2018 regular season, but that’s okay.

In total, if you add it all up you’ll see 10 Wins, 6 Losses, and 1 NFC Playoff Berth as a Wild Card behind the NFC North Champion Minnesota Vikings.
